“Sound is the source of creation. Everybody says we started with the big bang and that’s a sound baby!”

AnAkA is an artist of many portals—medicine woman, world builder, angel music channel, andvisual artist whose debut full-length album marks a powerful culmination of five years of devotion to what she calls Angel Music. Raised between the spiritual frameworks of Afro-Indigenous tradition and the embodied realities of diasporic survival, AnAkA’s music is lessa product and more a practice—songs channeled through ceremony, composed through thebody, and rooted in sacred memory. Her earliest transmissions arrived not long after the passing of her grandmother in 2020, where, as one of her death doulas, AnAkA encountered grief as a gateway. Singing became a way of praying, and the voice—layered, undulating, often in an angelic language with no known origin—became an instrument of spiritual precision. These early recordings would form the foundation for Angel Music EP, Angel Music Remix EP, and NEUROGENESIS, each one raw, improvised, and deeply felt. But her debut album CRISIS OF THE CONCRETE releasing November 14, 2025 is a different emergence—one where AnAkA steps into full power. Produced in collaboration with a range of sonic architects including NoGum Hundo, LVDF, Omari Jazz, Blakhi, Buli from Space, and her father Victor Morris, the album is a ritual mosaic. Some songs are intimate invocations meant to calm the nervoussystem and guide the listener inward. Others are bold, rhythmic, mantra-heavy offerings madefor the frontlines—to be sung together, moved through, and danced into being.
